TED es la convergencia de los campos de la Tecnología, el Entretenimiento y el Diseño. Se fundó en 1984 como organización sin fines de lucro y sostiene un conjunto de charlas por invitados que normalmente no tienen la exposición pública pero que si hacen tremendas contribuciones a la sociedad y al mejoramiento del mundo en que vivimos.
Iniciativa Comunitaria, dirigida por el Dr. Vargas Vidot y su equipo de ‘Brega Bien’, montaron el primer TED en Puerto Rico bajo su subsidiaria TEDx. Uno de los invitados para dar una charla fue Luis Salazar. Luis compartió la experiencia vivida tras su accidente y como lo movió a involucrarse en el mundo de las organizaciones sin fines de lucro. Explicó cómo identificó el grave problema que existe Puerto Rico referente a la rehabilitación después de un daño cerebral. Finalizó detallando las dificultades que pasan las personas que sufren daño cerebral si no tienen los recursos para tener la rehabilitación en los Estados Unidos.
